The Final Moments of an Incredible Journey

The revitalization of a BC landmark served as the spark that ignited our vision for a vibrant, connected neighbourhood that would elevate Downtown Victoria living. Over 17 years later, this vision has come to fruition with the completion of Hudson District’s final collection of homes, and we’re proud to have delivered a community the city can be proud of.

The four-storey Georgian Revival -style Hudson’s Bay building was constructed in 1914 as a statement of architectural permanence in the Northern end of Downtown. In 2006, Townline purchased this landmark and embarked on an ambitious reimagining of what this special site could be.

Inspired by the pioneering spirit that drove the construction of the original Hudson’s Bay, we strove to not only preserve the building’s architectural heritage, but also to create a new contribution to Victoria’s urban fabric – one that exudes energy and inspires community.

It was a belief that we could make a difference, do the right thing… that we could bring commerce and life back to the north end of Victoria.

In the Beginning: The Significant Restoration of The Hudson

The grand dame of department stores, transformed into smart modern flats, double-height lofts, and magnificent penthouses, with Victoria’s best marketplace at street level making this a go-to destination for the entire city. A project that honours heritage… and makes history all over again.

Moving On to Hudson Mews

A much-needed rental offering in the heart of Downtown Victoria, with smart urban rentals to fit the needs of a rapidly evolving city.

Next, In-Demand Urban Rentals with Hudson Walk One & Two

Urban rental homes defined by generous outdoor spaces, luxurious modern finishes, well-designed home layouts and amenity lounges, with fully-equipped gym – plus doorstep access to an array of shops and services including the Victoria Public Market at The Hudson.

Then, Hudson Place One Redefined the City’s Skyline

The landmark centerpiece of Victoria’s downtown skyline, with the city’s most elevated views over the inner harbour and mountains.

And Now, All the Urban Character of Hudson House

Cozy yet sophisticated with an eclectic urban twist, Hudson House exudes all the character and charm of the Hudson District itself – and indeed of Victoria.

With the completion of Hudson House, we are deeply honoured to announce that our vision for Hudson District has come to fruition. Hudson House offers a new standard of rental living in Downton Victoria – friendly, easy, professionally managed, and thoughtful at every turn. And the views – well, you just have to see them.

This is the kind of urban growth that defines the future of a place and its population. When a community is designed to reflect the wants and needs of the people who will ultimately occupy it and interact with it, it becomes something exceptional: a beloved experience at the heart of a city.

At Hudson District, it’s the homes – modern rentals, lofts, flats; homes that work for what you need. It’s the amenities – a way to create a larger, more layered, more enjoyable experience of daily life within the space of your very own building. And outside, it’s the spaces, designed for people, for hanging out, for passing through, for saying hello.

And for the 1,600 residents of Hudson District and the hundreds of people who pass through or pass by every day, that means everything.

Wherever we can, we like to tell the story of the past. I believe the past is as relevant to learn from as the future can be.
